ABL Spotlight on American Technologies

Maintaining strong family ties and establishing rock-solid values while building a successful company is a combo has made the Fowler family, founders of Atlanta-based American Technologies, LLC, prosperous and positioned for growth.

“Our work is not exclusively about money,” says Daniel Fowler, Sr. who co-founded the firm in 1995 with his wife Marie, the company’s CEO. “It’s also about purpose, relationships, and initiative. Its also about how we can better service the needs of our clients, our community, and the next generation.”

The sights, sounds and smells of Haiti permeate the Fowler residence, a new multilevel brick home in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area. The aromas of spicy creole dishes often fill the air and the business conversations include patois, the tongue of Haiti, a country that has been much in the news lately. Marie has not forgot where she came from, and she does represent great leadership using her foundations from both countries.

A Salute to the 2011 Man of the Year

Greg Hawkins had only had his iPad for two weeks when Apple announced the inevitable upgrade. The iPad 2 comes complete with a camera and newer, better, elements of technology — everything that the inaugural iPad, well, doesn't. And though,in just a few weeks he's already noted the dramatic renovation to how he manages himself administratively — suddenly eliminating his need for a briefcase, portfolio and writing pad, and increasing the ease and synchronicity of checking e-mail, calendaring, taking notes in meetings, as well as reviewing and giving presentations —imagine, he posits, the expanded capacity of the latest version?

A Salute to Minority Business Owners

By Kamille D. Whittaker

It has become custom in technology circles to dismiss the Y2K scare as the alchemy of hyper-active minds and conspiracy theorists. But for Daniel and Marie Fowler, owners of American Technologies Inc., it warranted a total business model overhaul and family relocation,to boot.

Founded in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in 1995, American Technologies began as computer manufacturing company building personal computer systems and providing for computer networking, databases and custom software arrangements for clients such as The Defense Logistics agency and other non-profit/commercial entities.

Super Tuesday Winner!

Super Tuesday Conference is a program designed to host business and professional women from throughout the metro Atlanta community during its Annual Super Tuesday series of events and workshops. Twenty-six years ago, the Women In Business Committee of the Atlanta Business League decided to create a forum for African-American women business owners and professionals to interact. They solicited the support of Mayor Shirley Franklin who was then the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Atlanta and Fulton County Commissioner Michael Lomax. Being a woman and understanding the plight of women across the board, Ms. Franklin was responsible for providing the first $5,000 grant to the Women in Business Committee for the first Super Tuesday program in 1984. This year our very own Marie Fowler has won the Super Tuesday Award in the category of "Success Against the Odds".

The Program

Videography - The means of visual expression

In July of 2010 Our COO Cori Fowler won a Pepsi Refresh Initiative grant. This grant was based upon the idea of giving back to a community in need of a higher level of education. This new knowledge could lead to an enriched career path as well as economic empowerment for the students involved. At American Technologies we stand firm behind our people and believe that everyone deserves a chance to have a skillset that could be lifesaving. The Youth in media Program is not only about getting superior skills in the arts of Video, Photography, and Web Media, but it also has business connotations embedded within the core of its curriculum.
